NICE means National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence, well that was for the benefit of those who are new to MRCOG.
In one of my earlier post, I talked about an easier approach to NICE guidelines.
Now here are some of the recommendations of NICE topics you should focus on.
Obstetrics
(click on the topics that you would like to read)
- Antenatal care for uncomplicated pregnancies – flow chart
- Intrapartum care for healthy women and babies
- Inducing labour (CG70)
- Caesarean section (CG132)
- Preterm labour and birth (NG25)
- Post natal care
- Antenatal and Post natal mental health–
- Multiple pregnancy
- DM in Pregnancy – Resource 1, Resource 2
- Hypertension in pregnancy
- Rhesus Anti D prophylaxis
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring- CTG (found within Intrapartum care)
Gynaecology
- Ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage: diagnosis and initial management
- Heavy Menstrual Bleeding
- Infertility
- Uro Gynaecology – urinary incontinence
- Ovarian Cancer- quick reference guide
- Menopause
- National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Long-acting Reversible Contraception. CG30. NICE; 2014
I will update the list further when I’m able to recall more, so bookmark this page and revisit this page every now and then…

There is a TOG article on fetal infections, but I am not sure which edition.
Zakia Zaman says
Hi really found it helpful.if u could highlight which topics to be covered from stratog ill b grateful as u mentioned important ones
Whole is v vast.thanks
Anjana Mackeen says
Glad you found it helpful. Do give it to people who may find it useful. Strat OG has so many topics and sub topics. I actually tried to read as much as possible. It was a revision for me. If you don’t have enough time, at least read the summaries. and attempt ALL their questions.
GHAZALA UMAIR says
is it necessary for mrcog part 2 CANDIDATE TO to have STRAT OG PROGRAM
Anjana Mackeen says
Yes I found it quite useful as a revision tool.
Selma whitt says
Strat og is so vast. Can you please guide me as to where to start and how to go about? Where are the questions you mentioned in stratOG.? Appreciate your response.
Anjana Mackeen says
I know it’s quite vast. But you will have to cover the important topics. At least read the summaries and attempt the questions in each topic. After each topic and sub topic they have given questions.
You can purchase A separate set of SBA questions in that site as well.
Subashree says
Thank you mam

my question is what you mean by readind summary of recommendation is it equal to reading “Quick reference guide” copy of the guideline
Anjana Mackeen says
Yes. They are essentially the same thing.
dr saira waheed says
Thanks a lot dr anjana for your kind support..I would like to ask whether i must read and high light the important points in whole of the guidelines ist or should I only go for the important topics …
Anjana Mackeen says
Hi Saira,
As I mentioned before, read the summery of recommendation first. You can highlight important points from this. If there is anything that you don’t understand, quickly skim through the whole thing. Urogynaecology, Infertility are topics I thought one should read everything. Hope that’s helpful!
dr saira waheed says
Thanks a lot ..got it now…

Dear Dr
I had been registered in RCOG trainee s’ site but i couldn’t get benifit of it due to my ignorance how bye useful tools , i hope your help to instruct me how to do so to be goog prepared for part 2 MRCOG with best regards
Anjana Mackeen says
Hi, I cant follow your question. Have you paid subscription and registered as a Trainee or, you have just subscribed after your MRCOG PART 1?
Anyway, if you do not have access to Strat OG, you will have to pay for it to be able to access it. The guidelines are free for all.
